A fire broke out in a generator carriage of the Dhaka-bound Mohua Commuter Train near Satkhamair Railway Station in Gazipur’s Sreepur on Thursday at 11:30 AM, disrupting train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route.

Eyewitnesses and the Sreepur railway station master reported that as the train approached the station’s outer signal, flames suddenly erupted from the generator carriage.

Upon spotting the fire, local residents quickly intervened, hammering the coupling to detach the burning carriage from the rest of the train. Their swift action prevented casualties among passengers.

Two units of the Sreepur Fire Service rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

Due to the incident, train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route have been temporarily suspended. Authorities stated that operations will resume once the damaged carriage is removed from the tracks.
