Three former police officials have been produced before the International Crimes Tribunal over the alleged burning of six students’ bodies during the July Movement in Ashulia.

On Tuesday morning, the accused officers—former Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime & Ops) of Dhaka District Md. Abdullahil Kafi, former Savar Circle ASP Md. Shahidul Islam, and ex-Detective Branch Inspector Md. Arafat Hossain—were presented in court.

The tribunal appearance follows an order issued by a judicial panel led by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder in response to a prosecution plea. The incident, which sparked national outrage, involved the alleged burning of student corpses amid the turmoil of the July Movement.

The tribunal is expected to hear further proceedings regarding their involvement in what is being termed a serious human rights violation.
