US President Donald Trump has expressed optimism about a major business opportunity with both Russia and Ukraine, should a peace agreement between the two nations be reached soon.

Donald Trump, writing on his social media platform Truth Social, hinted at an impending peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, suggesting it could materialize as early as next week. The president noted that if such a deal is signed, both nations could initiate “big business” with the United States.

“I hope Russia and Ukraine reach an agreement this week. After that, they will both begin major business dealings with the US,” Trump posted, highlighting the economic incentives of peace.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a temporary ceasefire in observance of Easter. During a meeting on April 19 with Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff, Putin declared a halt in military operations until midnight on April 21 (Moscow time), urging Kyiv to reciprocate.

The ceasefire came into effect at 6 PM on April 19 for Russian forces. However, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Sunday that President Putin has not issued any instructions to extend the truce, indicating that the Easter ceasefire would expire as scheduled.

The developments have sparked cautious optimism among global observers, though the path to a durable peace remains uncertain.
