Describing the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan as “horrible,” US President Donald Trump has called for an immediate end to hostilities and offered to mediate if needed.

In the wake of a deadly attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, tensions between nuclear-armed neighbors India and Pakistan have escalated, drawing global concern. Speaking at the White House, President Trump acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and urged both sides to de-escalate.

“This is really a very dangerous situation,” Trump said. “I know both of them well. I have a good relationship with both countries. I hope they can resolve it themselves, but I’m ready to help if necessary.”

The US President’s remarks come amid rising casualties and fears of a broader military confrontation. His offer of assistance signals Washington’s willingness to play a diplomatic role in defusing the crisis, although no formal mediation has been initiated.

Both India and Pakistan have a history of tense relations, especially concerning the disputed Kashmir region. The latest flare-up has further strained their already fragile ties.

Analysts suggest Trump’s remarks may encourage dialogue, but also acknowledge that past attempts at external mediation have been met with resistance, particularly from India.
