US President Donald Trump has called for a “real end” to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, as both nations exchanged heavy fire for a fifth consecutive day on Tuesday.
The latest escalation saw Israeli airstrikes kill senior Iranian commander Ali Shamdani in a targeted attack on a command centre in central Tehran. His death comes just days after another top commander, Golam Ali Rashid, was killed in a similar strike.
Iran responded with a barrage of missile fire, triggering air raid sirens across Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Explosions echoed over both cities, with authorities reporting falling debris and fires in the Tel Aviv area. The Israeli military confirmed that it intercepted several incoming missiles and resumed counterattacks targeting missile and drone launch sites in western Iran.
Among Israel’s strikes was a hit on Iran’s state television headquarters in Tehran, reportedly killing three people, according to local media.
Meanwhile, a cyberattack disrupted Sepah Bank, a major Iranian state-owned bank, further fueling tensions.
Despite international calls for restraint, both countries have continued their military exchanges since Israel launched a large-scale aerial campaign against Iranian military and nuclear sites last Friday.
