Tufan sporting dominates in DC Cup in Satkhira

Satkhira Correspondent : In the third match of the District Commissioner Cup T20 Cricket in Satkhira, Tufan Sporting Club secured a dominant 8-wicket victory, thanks to an all-round performance by national team cricketer, Mrittunjay .

The match was held on Monday morning (February 24) at the Satkhira Stadium, organized by the Satkhira District Administration and managed by the District Sports Association, featuring a contest between P.K. Union Club & Tufan Sporting Club.

After winning the toss, Tufan Sporting Club’s captain Ark opted to send P.K. Union Club in to bat. Although P.K. Union’s captain Said and Ujan made a strong start, the team soon faced a batting collapse. They managed to score only 125 runs, losing all 10 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. In the first powerplay, the team scored just 19 runs, losing one wicket. Ashik top-scored for the team with 28 runs (18 balls), followed by Ujan with 26 runs (34 balls). For Tufan Sporting, Tipu, Saiful, Mrittunjay claimed two wickets each.

Chasing a target of 126 for victory, Tufan Sporting Club sent Tanvir and Akash to open the batting. Both batsmen adopted an aggressive approach right from the start. However, in the 12th over, with the team score at 77, Tanvir was bowled by P.K. Club’s Ashik for 34 runs off 39 balls. In the next over, Akash was dismissed for 38 runs off 33 balls, creating some pressure on the team.

But thanks to a brilliant, unbeaten 41* runs off 26 balls by national team cricketer Mrittunjay, Tufan Sporting Club comfortably reached the target in 18.3 overs, with 8 wickets still in hand.

For his all-round performance, Mrittunjay was named the Player of the Match.

In this match, the umpire duties were carried out by GM Saiful Islam Bappi and Asif Kabir Hiron, with Meher Ullah Al Galib Meher serving as the scorer. The match referee was Ikramul Islam Lalu.

Tomorrow, the final group-stage match will take place at the same ground between Gonmukhi Sangha and Young Balakar.
