Two Israeli soldiers were killed in the besieged Gaza Strip when a crane fell on their heads. Additionally, eight others were injured, one of whom is in critical condition.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night (February 5), according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The names of the two deceased soldiers are Nadav Cohen (21) and Nachman Rafael Ben Ami (20).

The IDF’s preliminary investigation revealed that the crane collapsed due to severe weather conditions and strong winds in Gaza, causing the casualties.

In October 2023, the occupying Israeli forces launched a ground assault in Gaza, sending thousands of soldiers into the region. They participated in brutalities for 15 months, while also continuing airstrikes. This resulted in nearly 50,000 Palestinian deaths.

After the massacre of thousands, Israel agreed to a ceasefire with the Palestinian armed group Hamas on January 19. Following this, displaced civilians in Gaza began returning to their homes.

Liberty News’ international correspondent reports that U.S. President Donald Trump issued a threat to occupy Gaza. He also expressed doubts about whether the ceasefire with Israel would hold. This has led to new tensions in Gaza, with fears of the ceasefire collapsing. However, Arab countries have stated that they will not accept any demands to relocate the general population of Gaza elsewhere.
