Two killed in three-way collision in Faridpur

A tragic three-way collision on the Dhaka-Faridpur highway has claimed the lives of two people, including a motorcyclist and an auto-rickshaw driver. One more person has been injured in the accident.

The incident occurred on Sunday (February 16) around 9:30 AM at Shibrapur in the sadar upazila of Faridpur. The victims were identified as Nayen Sheikh, the motorcyclist from Chandpur village in the Ishan Gopalpur Union, and Shahjahan Sheikh, the auto-rickshaw driver from Madandia village, also in the same union.

According to local witnesses, a watermelon-laden truck traveling from Faridpur towards Rajbari lost control and collided with a motorcycle and auto-rickshaw, causing the truck to overturn. Nayen Sheikh, who was riding the motorcycle, died on the spot. His mother, who was on the back of the motorcycle, was severely injured. Shahjahan Sheikh, the injured auto-rickshaw driver, died on his way to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

The police said that the truck driver managed to escape after the incident. Investigations are ongoing, and the authorities are in the process of taking legal action.

Liberty News’ local correspondent states that Karimpur Highway Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Md. Salahuddin Chowdhury, confirmed the details and added that legal proceedings were underway.
