A Dhaka court today placed two accused on four-day remand in a case filed over the killing of the member secretary of the Pallabi unit Jubo Dal, Golam Kibria.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Partha Bhadra passed the order after police produced the accused before the court, seeking a seven-day remand.

The accused are Pata Sohel, alias Monir Hossain, and Sujon, alias Bukpora Sujon. They are reportedly members of the “four star” group.

Earlier on 18 November, another accused, Jony Bhuiyan, confessed before the court about the killing and is now in jail.

According to the case documents, Kibria was shot on 17 November while he was in his friend Masud Rana’s shop by Johnny Bhuiyan, Sohag, and Rokon with the prior plans and instructions of other accused Sohel and Masum.

Locals detained Jony while he was trying to flee, and the other accused tried to flee the scene in Md Arif’s rickshaw. When Arif failed to pull the rickshaw fast, they shot him too.

Golam Kibria died after he was taken to hospital. The rickshaw puller Arif is now under treatment in the hospital. Kibria’s wife, Sabiha Akter, filed a murder case with the Pallabi police station, naming five people and seven to eight unidentified individuals.
