Bangladesh’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Tariq Ahmed, has dismissed as false the reports circulating about a visa ban imposed on nine countries, including Bangladesh.

He described the news as a “malicious propaganda campaign.”

Speaking to the media, the ambassador said, “We have not received any such official notification. It appears to us that this is nothing but a malicious attempt to spread misinformation.”

On Saturday (20 September), several online portals reported that the UAE had imposed visa restrictions on nine Asian and African nations, including Bangladesh.

The reports claimed the directive would take effect from January 2026, covering job, tourism, and business visas for citizens of the listed countries.

According to those reports, the alleged ban targeted citizens of Uganda, Sudan, Somalia, Cameroon, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, Lebanon, and Bangladesh, restricting them from applying for work and tourist visas.
