In response to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan over the Kashmir issue, the United Nations Security Council is scheduled to convene a closed-door meeting on Monday, following a formal request from Pakistan.
The meeting comes amid growing fears that the diplomatic standoff could spiral into military conflict. According to NDTV, the session will focus on the aftermath of the April 22 terrorist attack in India-administered Kashmir’s Pahalgam region, as well as India’s recent move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty—a development that has further strained bilateral relations.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry announced that it intends to present a comprehensive account of the regional situation and highlight what it describes as India’s “unilateral actions.” Islamabad views this diplomatic engagement as a critical step in placing accurate information before the international community.
The Security Council’s deliberation marks a rare intervention in South Asian affairs and underscores the growing international concern over the fragile stability of the region.
