Chief Advisor of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, emphasized the importance of collective effort and empathy in building a bold and self-reliant nation, during a virtual address at a home handover event in Tejgaon on Wednesday.
Dr. Yunus stated that if the current spirit of cooperation and solidarity continues, Bangladesh will achieve the dream of becoming a courageous and self-sufficient nation. He praised the Bangladesh Army for their exemplary role in standing beside the people during disasters, calling their service a model of dedication.
Reflecting on the recent devastating floods, Dr. Yunus noted how the scale of the disaster became clear only after the waters receded. “Everyone rushed with relief, and the whole country mobilized in support,” he said. “Those who lost their homes had nowhere to go, and many proposed financial assistance for reconstruction.”
However, he maintained a firm stance against direct monetary distribution for rebuilding homes, favoring more structured and impactful alternatives. Dr. Yunus reiterated that resilience, shared responsibility, and discipline would pave the way toward national independence and strength.
