The United States has committed $73 million (7.3 crore USD) in aid for Rohingya refugees, amounting to 886 crore BDT based on an exchange rate of 1 USD = 121.45 BDT. The funds will be distributed through the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).
This announcement comes after concerns about reduced food assistance for the Rohingyas. Tommy Bruce, a spokesperson for the US State Department, emphasized the importance of international partners in providing life-saving assistance, including food and nutrition for over a million people. The funds will support essential needs such as food, clean water, healthcare, education, and security for the refugees and their host communities.
