Victory Day celebrated with music, theatre and cultural events

The cultural arena of the country celebrated Victory Day on Tuesday with a series of programmes across the country. The main event was held at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital. Organised by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the two-day celebration was implemented by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

The festivities began on Monday evening with an acrobatic show. On Tuesday, the final day of the programme featured a concert titled “Victory Day Concert”. Popular bands and artistes of the country, including Sayan, Shironamhin, Lalon, Bangla Five, Tonger Gaan, Aftermath, Faria Ila Lalala, Firoz Jung and F Minor, performed at the concert.

In addition, timeless songs of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra were performed simultaneously at all branches of the Shilpakala Academy across the country.

The festival programmes were arranged to reflect the melody of struggle and determination, highlighting the history of resistance, the desire for freedom and the dream of preserving the nation’s cultural heritage.

Meanwhile, a special jatra pala titled “General Osmani” was staged at the Experimental Theatre Hall of the Shilpakala Academy at 6:30pm on Tuesday. The production portrayed the contribution and crucial role of General Muhammad Ataul Gani Osmani, the Commander-in-Chief of the Bangladesh Army during the Liberation War.

M A Majid served as the palakar of the jatra, while Tanvir Nahid Khan directed the production.
Separately, a three-day programme titled “Rokte Ranga Bijoy Amar–2025” was held at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University, marking the Victory Month of December through a series of commemorative and cultural events. Jointly organised by all TSC-based social and cultural organisations, the programme took place from December 14 to 16.
The TSC programme concluded on Tuesday, Victory Day, with a collective rendition of the national anthem at the TSC Payera Chattar.

Different television channels also aired special programmes throughout the day to mark the occasion.
