Dhaka court has issued arrest warrants against 53 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, and Rehana’s children Tulip Rizwana Siddiq and Radwan Mujib Siddiq, in connection with corruption cases over illegal RAJUK plot allocations.
The Metropolitan Senior Special Judge of Dhaka, Zakir Hossain Galib, issued the arrest warrants on Sunday (April 13) after taking cognizance of three separate charge sheets filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The charges involve abuse of power and irregularities in acquiring 10-katha plots under the Purbachal New Town Project.
ACC Assistant Director Aminul Islam confirmed the news, adding that the court has set April 27 to receive a progress report on the execution of the arrest orders.
Previously, on April 10, the same court issued arrest warrants against Sheikh Hasina, her daughter Saima Wazed Putul, and 16 others in a related case of plot allotment corruption.
According to ACC investigations, Sheikh Rehana was the principal accused in one of the cases, filed on January 13 by ACC Deputy Director Salahuddin. Tulip Siddiq, Sheikh Hasina, and others were listed as co-accused. The investigation led to a charge sheet being submitted on March 10 against 17 individuals.
Similarly, Tulip Siddiq, Sheikh Hasina, and 15 others were named in a separate case involving Azmina Siddiq. The charge sheet, submitted by ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya, included 18 accused after further investigation.
In a third case filed by ACC Assistant Director SM Rashedul Hasan, Radwan Mujib Siddiq was the main accused. The charge sheet, submitted on March 10, named 18 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina and Tulip Siddiq, following extended investigation.
All three cases were filed at the ACC’s Integrated District Office in Dhaka.
Additionally, the court has previously ordered the seizure of properties, including land, houses, and flats owned by Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Putul, Sheikh Rehana, and her children. The court also ordered a freeze on Tk 16.12 crore held in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust.
