Former Bangladesh national selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu has revealed that the management is working to bring in foreign players for the upcoming National Cricket League (NCL). He said that the plan is to include at least one overseas player per team, with the long-term goal of having two foreign cricketers in each side.

“It’s a very short time, but we’re still trying to include a foreign player for every team,” said Nannu, who now serves as the BCB’s Chief Program Coordinator. “The biggest problem is that there are no activities from the division, and we lag there. When regional cricket starts, we might add not just one, but even two foreign players to each team.”

Speaking about preparations for the new NCL season, he added, “Venues are almost confirmed. But there might be a disadvantage for us. Seven matches might be played in a single venue at Cox’s Bazar due to the lack of grounds. So, it will be challenging for us how prepare and maintain the ground and pitch. And we always try to maintain 6 mm grass, so it will be difficult to play seven matches at Cox’s Bazar’s ground. A guideline will be provided, and we have already submitted one. So, we are working on it and hope to get the pitch we want for the NCL.”

The 2025–26 NCL is scheduled to begin on 25 October, featuring eight teams — Dhaka Division, Rajshahi Division, Rangpur Division, Sylhet Division, Khulna Division, Chattogram Division, Barishal Division, and newcomers Mymensingh Division.
