A coach of the Dhaka-bound Banalata Express derailed at Rajshahi railway station after a wheel broke early Monday morning. No casualties have been reported so far.
A major disruption occurred at Rajshahi railway station around 7:00 AM on Monday when a wheel of the nonstop Banalata Express broke, causing one of its coaches to derail. The train had departed from Chapainawabganj and was en route to Dhaka when the incident took place as it entered Rajshahi station.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud noise just as the train pulled into the platform. “There was a sudden bang, and then we saw a coach veer off the track. Passengers began jumping out in panic,” said a witness on site.
Station Manager Shahidul Islam confirmed the derailment, stating, “One coach of the Banalata Express has derailed due to a broken wheel. Recovery operations are underway, and further details will be provided in due course.”
Train services through the station were temporarily suspended as authorities worked to clear the line and ensure safety.
