A female passenger was allegedly raped by a railway staff in a toilet of Rangpur Express while the train was stationed at Dhaka Kamalapur Railway Station on Wednesday.
“I have heard the allegation, but not sure yet,” Joynal Abedin, officer-in-charge of Kamalapur Railway Station, told the Daily Sun this afternoon.
The victim is being returned to Dhaka from Santahar Railway Station of Bogura and she will reach here around 10:30 pm and then the fact will be known, said the OC.
On information, the authority has already detained Saiful Islam, 28, a public address announcer of the train, in this connection, following a verbal complaint of the victim, he said.
The victim is a resident of Kurigram, while the accused is from Gaibandha, the OC said, adding that the incident took place between 8:45am and 9:15am.
