The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) hosted a midnight reception for the Bangladesh women’s football team after they qualified for the AFC Asian Cup for the first time.
The event was held at Sunday night (July 6) at the amphitheater in Hatirjheel.
Afida, Rituparna, and their teammates returned to the country around 2 am. After arriving at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, they were taken directly to Hatirjheel.
At 3:15 am, when the team arrived at the venue, BFF executive committee members greeted them with bouquets.
Speakers at the reception included Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, former national team captain Aminul Haque, North City Corporation Administrator Mohammad Ejaz, BFF President Tabith Awal, team captain Afida Khandaker Pranti, forward Rituparna Chakma, and coach Peter Butler.
Earlier on Sunday evening, the team had departed from Myanmar, transiting through Thailand before arriving in Dhaka.
The unusual timing of the event was due to scheduling constraints. Two key players, Rituparna and Monika Chakma, were set to leave for Bhutan Monday morning, while three more players were scheduled to depart two days later.
To ensure the entire team could be present, BFF arranged the reception at night.
