Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus is not resigning, said the interim government Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud on Saturday.
He made the remarks while responding to queries after a closed-door meeting of the Advisory Council.
“The Chief Adviser is not resigning. He has not indicated any intention to leave the office. He is firmly staying. We have been entrusted with significant responsibilities, and we will not abandon those,” said Wahiduddin Mahmud.
An unscheduled Advisory Council meeting took place on Saturday at the NEC conference room in the capital’s Agargaon.
The meeting began around 12:20 pm and concluded at approximately 2:20 pm.
Dr. Mahmud made these remarks following the meeting, which was preceded by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) meeting.
The Advisory Council meeting, chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, was attended by 19 advisers.
Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan left shortly after 2 pm due to urgent work. She noted that the meeting covered discussions on elections, reforms, and the July Declaration.
A press briefing will be held after the meeting, she added.
When asked about the Chief Adviser’s resignation, she did not comment at the time.
Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain and Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan were also seen leaving shortly after.
Earlier, the ECNEC meeting, which began at 11 am and ended around 12:15 pm, approved nine projects.
