Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has proposed the establishment of a Chinese Cultural Center in Bangladesh, aiming to deepen cultural exchange and strengthen bilateral ties under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
In an interview with China’s state-run media CGTN, Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus emphasized the country’s strong commitment to China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The interview, published on Saturday (April 5), highlighted Dr. Yunus’s vision for expanding cultural and economic cooperation between the two nations.
During the conversation, Dr. Yunus proposed the creation of a Chinese Cultural Center in Bangladesh to enhance cultural interactions between the two countries. He expressed optimism that the long-standing relationship between Dhaka and Beijing would reach new heights in the coming years.
He also invited more Chinese investments and encouraged the relocation of industrial factories to Bangladesh, citing the BRI’s critical role in strengthening the country’s infrastructure and economic activities.
Bangladesh was the first South Asian nation to sign a memorandum of understanding with China in support of BRI cooperation.
Dr. Yunus visited China on a four-day official trip beginning March 26. He participated in the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2025 in Hainan on March 26 and 27, where he held sideline meetings with Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang.
Later, upon invitation from the Chinese government, he traveled to Beijing, where he held bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. He also met Vice President Han Zheng during the visit.
