A consignment of 1,000 kilograms of the famous Haribhanga mangoes, sent by Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, is set to reach Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday.
The gesture, known as “mango diplomacy,” aims to strengthen friendly ties between Bangladesh and India. The mangoes will also be shared with senior officials from the Indian Prime Minister’s Office and diplomats.
As part of this seasonal tradition, 300 kg of Haribhanga mangoes were also gifted earlier to the Chief Minister of Tripura and other dignitaries. The consignment was sent through the Akhaura land port on Thursday, coordinated by Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Tripura has reciprocated in past years by sending its well-known Queen variety pineapples to Bangladesh. This ongoing cultural exchange reflects the warm and neighbourly relations between the two countries.
