Zubaida Rahman, wife of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, departed Dhaka for London on Thursday morning, marking the end of her month-long visit to Bangladesh after 17 years of exile.
Zubaida Rahman, vice-president of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation and spouse of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, left Dhaka for London early Thursday via a Qatar Airways flight.
She departed from her Gulshan residence around 9:00 AM and headed to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, where she boarded the flight to rejoin her family in the UK.
Zubaida arrived in Dhaka on May 6 along with her mother-in-law, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. Her return had drawn political attention as it marked her first visit to Bangladesh in nearly two decades.
During her stay, Zubaida maintained a low profile, focusing on personal and family matters. Party sources described her visit as a significant emotional reunion but did not confirm any political engagements.
Her return to London suggests no immediate political move in Dhaka, though BNP insiders hint she may play a more visible role in the party’s future affairs.
